Finning Appoints Chief Financial Officer

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 15, 2008) - Finning International Inc. ("Finning") (TSX:FTT) announces the appointment of Mr. David S. Smith as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Finning International Inc. effective February 2, 2009.

Mr. Smith has been Chief Financial Officer of Ballard Power Systems Inc. since December 2002 with responsibility for external financial reporting, taxation, treasury, strategic planning, risk management, public and investor relations and information technology. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Smith acted as Ballard's Vice President, Controller from October, 2000. Immediately prior to joining Ballard, he spent 16 years with Placer Dome Inc. in various senior positions, including Vice President, Corporate Relations, Vice President, Business Development, and as regional Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in the United States, Chile, and Canada. Mr. Smith also was with Price Waterhouse for four years in the United States, is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration, from California State University, Sacramento.
