Mining for Miracles

July 29, 2016

Mining for miracles, the BC mining community’s longstanding fundraising campaign for BC children’s Hospital, raised $1,206,704 on May 12th at its signature event – the Teck Celebrity Pie Throw. Participants raised funds by volunteering to take a pie in the face while asking friends, family and colleagues to pledge their support.

Finning Canada was one of the proud supporters for the event.

This year, Jim Harrison (GM, Strategic Accts & Bus Dev for Mining) was our representative from Finning and had the pleasure of taking a pie in the face during the Teck Celebrity Pie Throw event. Also, Sean Maclean (Sales Rep – Power Systems Rental) had the pleasure of donating a Cat XQ100 generator to power the event.

"Thirty representatives from across the industry participated in the Pie Throw and soundly beat the $600,000 fundraising goal. This is a testament to their commitment and the generosity of the entire mining industry," said Jeff Hanman, chair of Mining for Miracles. “Finning has been a long-time supporter of Mining for Miracles and their contribution is truly helping to improve care for sick kids across the province.”
