Construction Training & Development Make First Cat Purchase

Construction Training & Development (CTD) purchase their first Cat® machine from Finning UK & Ireland, with plans to change and grow their entire fleet their whole fleet to Cat in the next two years.

CTD provides large contractors and civil engineers with CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) training from its base in Bournemouth, supporting the development of industry professionals within health, safety and plant-training requirements.

With a current fleet of only JCB machines, CTD has recently made the decision to purchase a Cat 313 F L GC alongside a Customer Support Agreement (CSA) following previous ongoing issues with their current machines and back-up service.

A custom CSA can help detect equipment problems before they develop which means fewer repairs, less unscheduled downtime, lower operating costs and maximum productivity as well as lowering ownership and operating costs.

After Managing Director Paul Crabb and a a CTD product tester visited Caterpillar’s base in Desford to demo the machine. Following a day of testing, CTD bought the machine there and then. Their new Cat 313F L GC will now be used to train a constant flow of people at their centre.

Paul Crabb, said: “I’ve worked with Cat machines before,I acquired CTD three years ago and was  unhappy with the current equipment suppliersurprised to see that they didn’t operate a Cat machine. For the number of hours and amount of training we do here, we needed both a reliable machine, and a reliable back-up service. This is why I approached Finning.

“I took our CTD product tester to Desford to trial the machine, having operated other manufacturer’s machinery all his life, I was happy to see that he didn’t need much convincing when we arrived. has been a lifelong JCB operator. However, after spending the day at Desford he didn’t take much convincing. He said the Cat machine it was incredibly comfortable and commented on the machines fuel efficiency; by the end of the day we couldn’t get him out of it.

“It is so important in this industry to provide high quality training and development, with the best equipment and fleet, we can to ensure operators are safe and skilled at work. This is why we pride ourselves in the quality of the machines we have onsite and the Cat 313F L GC is a brillianis a great addition, and we’re now looking to swap our entire fleet over to Cat in the next two years.”
