Slope Assist

Cat Slope Assist makes grading easy by automatically holding blade angles without any external laser or GPS reference. Slope Assist comes as standard on the Cat D6N and D6K; the D6K will part of the live demonstrations at Hillhead.

Kevin Flynn, a demonstrator instructor at the Caterpillar Malaga training facility talks about the new technology in the video below. You can also take a look at a recent story about Flannery Plant Hire’s fleet and their adoption of Cat Slope Assist technology.

Caterpillar Payload Technology

Cat Payload technology is all about improving productivity onsite; helping operators achieve precise targets with on-the-go load weighing.

“Providing real-time numbers, all easily visible for the operator to make informed decisions on when to overload, or under-load…”

Nick Drew from Earthmovers magazine and The DiggerMan Blog tests the Cat 323E Grade with Assist Excavator.

“Available on the Cat 323F, Cat GRADE with Assist builds on the base system’s guidance capabilities, adding control technologies that automate boom and bucket movements. Operators using this feature can reach target grade up to 45% faster than those using manual processes.”

Customers

Here you’ll find more information on some of our key customers, and how they’re moving forward with EMSolutions and managing a connected fleet.

Singleton Birch

Singleton Birch is the largest independent producer of lime in the UK.

“With EMSolutions, we have one point of contact that monitors our machinery on a daily basis. We are regularly discussing what’s been going on onsite, from fuel burn to how the site team is operating the machines. We’re using this as a guide when training our operators.

The way Cat and Finning are moving forward with technology is the future, and everyone is on board, from the management to the operators. We’re all working together towards one overall aim; to improve safety and productivity.”

Aggregate Industries

National quarry specialist, Aggregate Industries has completed the integration of 100 plus connected Caterpillar® machines across its UK sites, in a five-year, deal with Finning Managed Solutions (FMS), a part of Finning UK and Ireland.

Including one of the first Cat 982M Wheel Loaders in the UK, the new equipment will represent the largest deployment of new Caterpillar connected quarry industry machines ever seen in the UK. Distributed across 44 Aggregate Industries (AI) sites in the British Isles, including operations in Scotland, Wales and throughout England, the new fleet will join existing Caterpillar equipment already operating in the business.

In addition to supporting the equipment through the use of advanced monitoring, as part of the phased deal, the FMS team are providing expertise to the AI procurement and operations teams across 44 sites, to identify cost savings and productivity benefits that can be achieved.

M O’Brien

National plant hire specialist, M O’Brien, has taken delivery of its first ever fleet of six new Cat®730C2 Articulated Trucks, in a deal with Finning UK and Ireland that increases its investment in Caterpillar equipment to £2m in less than 12 months.

The new Cat 730C2 units are now part of its national hire fleet, managed from its headquarters in St Albans. Commenting on the deal, owner Michael O’Brien said: “Caterpillar has generally not been a brand I have chosen to purchase in the past, as we have always worked with other manufacturers.

“From a hire perspective, when assessing the suitability of a machine for our fleet, we always look at the robustness of the unit, its handling, performance and safety. So with the addition of the wet brakes and the overall feedback from operators, we had the confidence to make the move to Caterpillar machines, purchasing six new units.”

SITECH UK & IRELAND

SITECH UK & Ireland is the sole dealer of Trimble construction technology in the UK; and Finning’s chosen technology partner.

SITECH will be demonstrating 2D and 3D machine control, site positioning systems, asset management systems and software solutions all at Hillhead 2016.

David Collins, Owner of Collins Earthworks urges the industry to make the most of machine control equipment.

New Cat Machines

Here you’ll find a number of the brand new machines soon to be showcased at Hillhead 2016.

Cat 352F L XE hydraulic excavator

“The new Cat® 352F L XE Hydraulic Excavator features unique technology to deliver maximum efficiency. The exclusive Cat Adaptive Control System (ACS) valve provides precise hydraulic response to operator commands for significant fuel savings; based on engineering validation, the machine will use up to 15 percent less fuel with no reduction in productivity compared to a standard 352F L.”

Cat 730C2

“The new Cat 730C2 Articulated Dump Truck features full-time, six-wheel drive and are equipped with wet disc clutch locks in the cross axle and inter-axle differentials. Automatic, on the go application of the locks is fully proportional, engaging only the required amount of lockup to maintain traction in adverse conditions—with no input from the operator. Also, new for the C2 is all-axle wet brakes. The sealed system prevents the ingress of debris and extends brake life.”
