COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Length: 4 x 10-hour days
Target Audience: Technicians and Service Personnel

This 6040 Machine Service Training course is designed to prepare participants to diagnose problems quickly and accurately, to test and properly adjust components, and to demonstrate knowledge of the methods and strategies used in all the major systems of the 6040 Hydraulic Shovel.

Note: The customer must supply a machine for the practical portion of this class.

PPE Required

Participants must provide their own safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hard hat, hearing protection, and coveralls with Hi-Visibility Markings.

None.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

After completion of the course the participant will be able to:

• Explain common machine features.

• Use and interpret technical machine documentation such as: Electrical and Hydraulic schematics.

• Identify and explain function of machine components.

• Explain function of pilot/servo circuits

• Identify and explain operation of power train and PMS system.

• Identify and explain operation of attachment/travel.

• Understand swing system including SIL.

• Identify and explain components and operation of BCS (Board Control System)

• Identify and explain other systems on machine including Undercarriage, Superstructure, Pump Drives, Pump, Hydraulic tank, Oil cooling, as well as central lubrication systems.

• Troubleshoot, test, and adjust systems relating to the Diesel Engine.

• Better understand proper troubleshooting techniques related to HMS hydraulic and electrical systems.

• More efficiently test and adjust the different hydraulic and electrical systems on the HMS.

• More accurately interpret data recorded from machine being tested/troubleshot.
