Finning and Girls Inc. announce 2023 Finning Canada STEM Award winners

Finning and Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta are pleased to announce the 2023 Finning Canada STEM Awards have been presented to two exceptional young women.

Jennifer Lee, who is working towards her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Keyano College, and Samhita Bhowmik, who is pursuing civil engineering, were each awarded scholarships worth $3,500.

The Finning Canada STEM Awards were established in 2019 to empower and inspire young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) fields. The scholarships are open to women who are in or entering a post-secondary program in a related field.

Michelle Dupont, SVP, Human Resources Canada and Global Talent for Finning, said, “Empowering and inspiring young women who are often underrepresented in the skilled trades and in STEM occupations is one of the many reasons we are proud to support this scholarship program.”

As part of the award program, Jennifer and Samhita had the opportunity to speak with Morgan Garnett, Inclusion and Diversity Specialist at Finning. Morgan shared her personal career experiences, including moments of doubt and difficulty. She advised the recipients to keep space for things that truly ignite their passion and to find those moments even on the hardest days.

Finning and Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta are thrilled to recognize Jennifer and Samhita's hard work and dedication. Congratulations to them both, and we wish them success in their studies and future careers.
