A Guide: First Cat Auctions Services and IronPlanet Event

Friday, April 15 th, 2016

Europe’s first Cat Auction Services and IronPlanet unreserved public auction will be hosted by Finning, at Rockingham Speedway, Northamptonshire, on 20th April 2016.

Together with leading industry blogger Nick Drew, from The Digger Man Blog, we’ve put together an ‘Auction Guide’, covering the following topics:

  • Auction – Inspection reports and review of some equipment
  • What to look at when buying used equipment
  • How to bid at the auction
  • What to expect from the auction

When Nick first visited Rockingham Speedway a few weeks before the auction, he had the chance to take a look at some of the first machines arriving, and put together this blog post on his experience. Click on the image below to read his review:

The Digger Man Blog’s first impressions on the machines going to auction

Auction

During his visit, Nick had a chat with IronPlanet’s Colm Moran, about the inspection process the machines go through, and the guaranteed inspection reports IronPlanet produces for every single machine. The reports give detailed information on the condition of the machines, including ratings and comments for key systems and components, functional test results and many photos; they are also stamped with Iron Planet’s IronClad Assurance.

With the IronClad Assurance, IronPlanet gives buyers the guarantee that the machines have been given a full and detailed inspection by an industry expert, as well as the confidence that what they see in the inspection report, is what they will receive.

See the video below for more information on the inspection process. More details on the machines going to auction can be find at IronPlanet.com.

What to look at when buying used equipment

Nick has also spoken to Beverley Walker, Used Equipment Specialist at Finning, about what to look out for when buying used equipment. Whether you’re an experienced second-hand buyer or doing it for the first time, this video is a must-watch.

How to bid at the auction

Following his first visit, Nick wanted to find out more about the bidding process, so he went back to site to get more information from Colm, from IronPlanet. With two options for bidding – online or at the auction, in this video Colm and Nick cover everything you need to know, including how to become a registered bidder by visiting IronPlanet.com.

What to expect from the auction

Nick has also got the chance to speak to Enda Eiffe, from Finning, about why the business is hosting the event and what people can expect from the auction.
