Advance Construction Invests Over £1m In 20 Cat Excavators To Support Continued Growth Success

Scottish Civil Engineering firm, Advance Construction, has invested in 20 new Cat® 312E Excavators following growing demand in the Construction Sector. The new fleet will support the company’s expanding groundwork operations, which have grown to be worth over £100 million this year.

Commenting on the purchase Seamus Shields, Managing Director at Advance Construction, said: “Investing in the Cat 312E Excavators made operational sense to us. Hiring machines on a project-by-project basis was an option, but expanding our own fleet guarantees equipment quality, reliability and most importantly availability. The investment in 20 units demonstrates the regard which we have for the Caterpillar® machines, and is a valuable addition to our fleet of 130 excavators.”

“The service support Finning provide was also instrumental in our decision to invest. Having a team based in Glasgow means that any machine issues are dealt with promptly, which keeps our downtime to a minimum and reduces any affect on our bottom line. It is essential that our operators have the best equipment to use on site and complemented with maintenance enabling optimum performance throughout the machine’s life cycle.”

Founded in 1993, Advance Construction now employs over 900 staff and is the largest privately owned Groundwork’s company in Scotland, servicing all major House Builders and many Blue Chip Civil Engineering Firms. The business is co-ordinated from its Blantyre Head office and recently opened a new location in Inverkeithing to support its expanding East division.

Alistair Murdoch, Finning’s Key Account Manager who oversaw this deal, added: “The growth Advance Construction has yielded over the last 20 years is testament to exceeding customers’ expectations time after time. With Cat machines and Finning support service playing a key role in their operation, we look forward to working hand in hand with Seamus and the team as they continue to produce ground-breaking results.”
