Harsco Take Delivery of Rebuilt Cat 988H

THURSDAY, JANUARY 14 TH, 2016

Specialist supplier of logistics and resource recovery services to the steel industry, Harsco Metals and Minerals, has taken delivery of a newly rebuilt Cat 988H, the latest machine to be put through the rebuild centre of excellence at the Finning branch in Leeds.

Rebuilt in just five weeks, with a further week required for blasting and painting, the machine was recently sent back to the Port Talbot steel works, where it had previous operated before the rebuild took place.

The team at Leeds worked with Harsco to identify core component replacement, repair and rebuild options, to give the machine a new life, whilst keeping cost to a minimum.

This process led to the repair of all the hydraulic cylinders, the rebuild of the torque converter and axles and a full cab overhaul. In addition to this major work, general welding repairs and standard component replacement, including filters and seals was undertaken, with new paintwork finishing off the rebuild process.
