Finning UK & Ireland has made the shortlist in the Data Centre Solutions (DCS) Awards 2016 with the Cat® C175-20 generator set, which packs excellent power output and excellent reliability into a small footprint.
The genset is now competing to become the DCS Awards’ Power Product of the Year. As well as offering the greatest power output in the smallest footprint of any single high-speed diesel generator set available on the market, its low emissions, high reliability and durability, and the unmatched global support of the Cat dealer network all combine to make it an even more appealing product.
A single 4MW C175-20 has a footprint 55 per cent smaller than two 2MW Cat 3516B generator sets and 28 per cent smaller than a 4MW Cat 3612.
The increased power density is a key benefit for standby power in mission-critical power installations that require larger safety loads. It can also reduce the ancillary equipment required, particularly when integrated into a Finning turnkey solution containing Cat switchgear, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), control systems and noise limiting acoustics, resulting in a more cost-effective installation and using less facility space.
Not only this, but it is certified to EPA Stationary Emergency Tier 2 emissions’ limits for 60Hz applications. This makes it a truly sustainable option for power generation in data centres, especially when coupled with Cat’s wide range of after-treatment solutions that can reduce the amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx), hydrocarbons and particulate matter emitted.
The unit can also run on a range of biodiesels and is available with a low fuel consumption version to further reduce emissions and operating costs. Its improved engine breathing design allows for a greater amount of cooler air to circulate through the engine, which combines with high-pressure fuel injection to enable more efficient combustions and lower fuel consumption. A ridged engine wiring harness also protects critical engine circuits from damage and redundant control wiring minimises the impact of electrical faults.
You can register your vote for Finning in the DCS Awards by visiting www.dcsawards.com/voting.php before midnight on 22 April. The winners will be announced on 12 May at a ceremony in London.Finning will also be attending Data Centre World on 12-13 April, alongside Energyst on stand N70.
