In northeastern Alberta's remote areas, where the nearest hospital can be hours away by road, every second counts in an emergency. For Finning's Wood Buffalo team, supporting the Local HERO Foundation was an easy decision. With many Finning employees working at remote oil sands sites, helicopter response can reach patients in minutes rather than the hours required for ground crews.
"Being able to provide that safe and secure environment to our employees means that if something does happen, we have the availability of medevac services like Local HERO to respond quickly and get us to somewhere safe as quickly as possible," says Eric Marquis, head of service operations in the Wood Buffalo region.
“Having a dedicated medevac service like Local HERO gives us peace of mind when time is of the essence and we need to get someone to a medical center," shares Kelly Tole, community liaison at Finning.
This partnership reflects our shared commitment to safety, care, and community. Watch the video to hear more from Eric and Kelly:
Finning's support comes through their community investment approach, with local committees at each facility empowering employees to choose causes that matter most. This ensures investments align with real community needs while reflecting the company's commitment to safety as their highest priority.
