YWCA Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

September 14, 2012

Twenty-five Finning employees, including president Andy Fraser, collected pledges and participated in the 3rd annual YWCA Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser on September 11. These brave men wore high heels and strutted their stuff around Churchill Square in support of the YWCA’s family violence recovery and prevention programs.

“We set a team goal to raise $25,000 for this worthy cause, and thanks to the efforts of our employees and the generous support of our donors we surpassed it,” said Andy Fraser, president of Finning Canada.

On-highway truck manager Harold Denenfeld received an award for most money raised by an individual and the Finning team won for most money raised by a group.

“Mention the name “Finning” and one immediately thinks of a strong company working in tough industry. These men were willing to step outside that image, have some fun and raise awareness and money that will directly benefit women and children in our entire community. They certainly led the way yesterday and perhaps we’ll see others in that industry join them next year,” said YWCA CEO Jackie Foord.
