The Evolution of a 50+ Year Partnership:
C. Duncan Construction and Finning

What does it mean to ‘bleed yellow’? Carmen Duncan, President of C. Duncan Construction in Spy Hill, Saskatchewan, shares how the success of his family owned and operated heavy construction company since 1966 is grounded in his partnership with Finning and Cat® equipment.

When Finning International Inc. first expanded into Saskatchewan in 2015, they knew they had big shoes to fill. After a remarkable 70 years of service, the Kramer family made the decision to retire from their Cat equipment dealership business, trusting Finning and its complementary Western Canadian operations to continue their legacy of providing exceptional customer service throughout the province.

Carmen Duncan, President of C. Duncan Construction based out of Spy Hill, Saskatchewan, confirms that Finning continually meets their expectations as a heavy equipment partner.

Founded in 1966 by Cameron Duncan – Carmen’s father – C. Duncan Construction began its earth moving and site development company with a single Cat Crawler Tractor Dozer. Carmen has since grown the company to a fleet of over 50 pieces of Cat heavy equipment, to complete a wide range of road building, environmental reclamation, and general maintenance contracting projects across Saskatchewan.

With so much of C. Duncan Construction’s sustained success dependent on the productivity and performance of their full range of Cat heavy equipment, it was critical they receive the same commitment to customer service with Finning as they received with Kramer.

Joining Finning in their expansion into Saskatchewan was a talented and dedicated team of 475 Kramer employees. This ensured the deep understanding of the local markets and well-established customer relationships throughout the province remained in place, allowing all Cat equipment sales, parts, service, and rental dealerships to transition from Kramer to Finning seamlessly.

Finning immediately earned the trust of Carmen Duncan and his fleet of Cat heavy equipment, where the long-standing former Kramer employees prove each and every day that they will always have their customers’ backs. Keeping their customers’ equipment well-maintained and operating at peak performance is everyone’s top priority at Finning, where the customers are treated as family.

The more successful that Cat heavy equipment customers become and the more they’re able to grow their heavy construction businesses, translates into more time that Finning team members get to spend with their customers to help them achieve their operational goals.

This dedicated, responsive, and intensely loyal support that Carmen Duncan received from both Kramer and now Finning is what it means to ‘bleed yellow’; where the customer can always trust that their Cat heavy equipment meets the reliability, durability, and serviceability expectations that keep them operating at peak performance.
