COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Length: 3 x 10-hour days
Target Audience: Heavy Equipment Technicians (HETs)

Course will cover machine maintenance, major machines system operations and adjustments for the Caterpillar 834K wheel dozer.

PPE Required

Participants must provide their own safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hard hat, hearing protection, and coveralls with Hi-Visibility Markings.

PREREQUISITES

Training on Service Information System 2.0 (SIS2) / Electronic Technician (ET) (SIS2/ET) would be and asset.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

After completion of the course the participant will be able to:

  • Identify and explain functions of operator controls
  • T4F Engine

- Identify Tier IV engine componen

- Trace fuel flow

- Trace inlet and exhaust gas flow through component/explain operation

- Connect ET and perform various engine trouble shooting tests

  • Drivetrain

- Identify components in the system

- Trace oil flows for different modes of operation/explain operation

  • Steering/Brake System

- Identify components in the system

- Trace oil flows/ explain operation

  • Hydraulic System

- Identify components in the system

- Trace oil flows/ explain operation

  • Operator Station

- Identify components in the Cab

- State the functions of the components Locating the physical layout of components as reviewed during the classroom portion of the training.
