Course Length: 4 x 8-hour days or 3 x 10-hour days
Target Audience: Heavy Equipment Technicians (HETs)
This large track-type tractor course pertains to the Caterpillar D10T2 track-type tractor. The course will discuss the C27 diesel engine and its emission system. The hydraulics, steering, powertrain, electrical control, and new tractor features will also be discussed.
Note: The customer must supply a machine for the practical portion of this class.
PPE Required
Participants must provide their own safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hard hat, hearing protection, and coveralls with Hi-Visibility Markings.

After completion of the course the participant should be able to:
Locate and identify all the major D10T2 track type tractor machine components
Locate and identify all filters, dipsticks, indicators, fill tubes, drains, and test points
Locate and identify the major components and explain operation of the C27 engine along with the Tier 4 Final emission solution NOTE: 4-day class only
Trace the flow of fuel, oil, air, coolant and NRS (NOx Reduction System) throughout the engine
Trace the flow of oil throughout all hydraulic components and explain operation
Understand and be able to test the new load sensing hydraulic system and how each component corresponds with the entire system
Explain operation of the torque divider and powertrain transmission
Perform testing and adjusting on the powertrain and braking system
Locate all controls in the new operator’s station
Explain the operation of the new tractor features
Understand the correlation between different ECMs on the machine
Successful completion of a written examination with a passing grade of 80%.
