COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Length: 1 x 8-hour day
Target Audience: Non-Ticketed Employees

This course covers the basics of Caterpillar Diesel Engines and the internal components. The participant will have a basic understanding of how the Intake, Exhaust, Fuel, Cooling and Lubrication systems operate and the terminology used. Information on basic maintenance will also be covered.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

After completion the participant will have a basic understanding of:

  • The Intake System and related components.
  • The Exhaust System and related components.
  • The Cooling System and related components.
  • The Lubrication System and related components.
  • Diesel fuel and coolant.
  • The five main Caterpillar Diesel Engine Fuel systems. (3400 New Scroll, MUI, MEUI,HEUI, CCR)
  • Various filters used on Caterpillar equipment.
