Keyano College

Finning Canada Endowment Fund Awards

In 2017, Finning Canada made a $100,000 donation to Keyano College to establish the Finning Canada Endowment Fund. The fund was used to develop four annual awards that will provide support to students for generations to come in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

“At Finning Canada our focus is on building and powering a better world. I can’t think of a better way to do that than by investing in education to help students reach their goals today and into the future,” said Chad Slee, Director, Mining Sales and Marketing for Finning. “Through the Finning Canada Endowment Fund we are ensuring ongoing funding for students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to pursue a postsecondary education and support programs that are aligned with Finning’s focus on STEM, diversity, and sustainability while recognizing a student’s academic performance and financial need.”

Eligibility for the four annual awards for students enrolled at Keyano is based on financial need and academic achievement, but also includes students exhibiting leadership and community involvement, Indigenous students, students enrolled in Environmental Studies and women enrolled in the Trades.

The 2020 Keyano College award recipients were recognized in a virtual ceremony, held November 24, 2020. Over $417,000 in awards were distributed to deserving students. Congratulations to this year’s award winners.
