Join Caterpillar® and Finning’s electric power experts as they deliver six, 60-minute webinars, highlighting the key considerations for emergency power in the UK healthcare sector and setting out the Caterpillar and Finning products, solutions and support available to help you secure an effective, efficient, reliable critical power system.

Programme Details

Session 1: Advancing Healthcare Energy

When: 2:00 pm - Tuesday 17th November

An overview of the Caterpillar products and services suited to the provision of critical and emergency power applications in the UK healthcare setting acknowledging fuel choices, legislative and regulatory requirements and future proofing among other key considerations.  

Session 2: HTM* Power Ratings

When: 2:00 pm - Thursday 19th November

A detailed look at the considerations for emergency power sizing and the correlation with HTM (*Healthcare Technical Memorandum). Caterpillars genset sizing tool, Spec Sizer.

Session 3: Spec Sizer in Action

When: 2:00 pm - Tuesday 24th November

The capabilities and recent functionality enhancements of Caterpillar’s own genset sizing tool, Spec Sizer, are demonstrated through a guided, real- life example from a recent healthcare project. 

Session 4: The Fuel Question - Diesel or Gas?

When: 2:00pm - Thursday 26th November

Fuel choices and trade-offs are considered uncovering themes like capital expenditure versus operating cost, grid code compliance, emissions strategies, power density relative to both diesel and gas-fuelled options; conventional alternatives on the market such as bio-diesel, GTL (Gas to Liquid) and synthetics are also discussed.

Session 5: Energy Storage Systems (ESS)
- An Overview & Explanation

When: 2:00 pm - Tuesday 1st December

Beginning with the fundamentals of ESS, understand the potential for the technology and how that translates to the healthcare setting. Exploring ESS-only and Gas + ESS solutions, a case study illustrating increasing standby capacity and maintaining nominal power level is also discussed. 

Session 6: Real Life Power

When: 2:00pm - Thursday 3rd December

Completing the series, a showcase of emergency power installations completed by Finning at leading hospital trusts around the UK. We present the unique requirements and specifications of each and identify the service and support provided by Caterpillar Electric Power and Finning to ensure the realisation of true power confidence and quality patient care. 

Speaker bios.

Jason Harryman

Jason Harryman - Finning UK & Ireland

Sales and Business Development Manager for Energy and Transportation Division. Jason has worked for over 26 years in the Electric power generation industry, working on power projects in the UK, Europe and internationally. He has managed project delivery teams in rental, used and new equipment sales divisions and supported a wide range of customers and applications from hospitals to data centres, submarines to drill rigs. His current focus is on emissions standards and compliance as well as new energy technologies and solutions. 

Raphael Timms
Raphael Timms

Raphael Timms – Caterpillar Large Electric Power Division

Graduating from the Swiss Institute of Technology with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Raphael has 15 years of experience in the electric power business. Joining Caterpillar in 2005, his experience spans project engineering in Caterpillar’s Custom Power Solutions team as well as EAME territory sales management, covering applications from critical to heavy duty prime. Today, Raphael is a 6-Sigma Black Belt Project Manager focused on developing Caterpillar and dealer teams to deliver best in class service of engineering consultancy firms and design consultants. 

Dr. Graeme Mawhinney
Dr. Graeme Mawhinney

Dr. Graeme Mawhinney, Caterpillar Large Electric Power Division

Graduating from Queen’s University Belfast, with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Graeme joined the Caterpillar Electric Power team in 2000. During his 20-year career with Caterpillar, he has been involved in research and development in an array of key product areas, from acoustic design to alternative fuels. A 6-Sigma Black Belt, Graeme is now part of Caterpillar’s project management team, focused on products with power outputs 1.5 eMW and up.  

James Murray
James Murray

James Murray, Caterpillar Large Electric Power Division

James has worked in industry for 22 years, 15 years within Caterpillar Electric Power Division. With global experience working in Europe, US and Middle East delivering complex programmes in Sales, Commercial and Operational teams. As a territory sales manager, his current focus is working with Caterpillar dealers to ensure Electric Power go-to-market product and commercial strategies are aligned to the market and end customer requirements.

Francois-Xavier Saury

Francois-Xavier Saury - Caterpillar Large Electric Power Division

With over 25 years of experience in the power generation industry, Francois-Xavier joined Caterpillar Electric Power in 2003. Since then he has worked in Territory Sales Management for AME and is a fully certified 6-Sigma Black Belt. He has also led regional gas business development activities and engaged in roles focused on gas and diesel-fired power plants including gas turbines, Combined Heat and Power, mission critical applications, Oil & Gas and Electrical Systems. Today he leads Caterpillar’s EAME and CIS hybrid business development efforts focusing on Hybrid Energy Solutions including grid, generators, renewables and energy storage technologies.
