If you are looking for a career in engineering with a forward looking, dynamic and professional organisation then look no further than Finning UK & Ireland, the world's largest Caterpillar dealer - servicing Cat equipment and engines.

We are looking for flexible, enthusiastic people with a passion for engineering to come and join us for the long term. We will develop your existing skills through our award-winning Apprenticeship programme. On successful completion you will become a Caterpillar® Qualified Engineer, with nationally recognised qualifications, leading to a long and rewarding career in our workshops and Field Service teams.

Our purpose-built academy at our Cannock headquarters is the base for our Apprenticeship programme, where we will help you develop into the engineer of tomorrow. As an engineer, you could be working with anything from earthmoving machines to marine engines and electric power generators, whilst always delivering outstanding customer experience where safety is paramount.

We have two apprenticeship programmes:

Level 3 Electric Power Engineer Apprenticeship:

  • On our four-year programme you will develop your knowledge and skills to become an Electric Power Engineer. That could be an EP Field engineer providing breakdown response to our Gas/Diesel engine sector. A Data Centre engineer ensuring the back-up power is always ready to come on during a mains outage. A Commissioning engineer where you will carry out vital tests/checks on a newly installed project before operations begin. Or a Marine engineer working on all different kinds of marine crafts.

Level 3 Service Engineer Apprenticeship:

  • On our four-year programme you will develop your knowledge and skills to become a Finning Service Engineer. That could be a Rebuild/Repair Engineer in one of our workshops, repairing or overhauling; Track Type Tractors, Excavators, Dump Trucks, Wheel Loaders, Articulated Dump Trucks, the list goes on! Or you could be a field Service Engineer providing breakdown response in a fast-paced environment to our customers on site, keeping their machines up and running and our customers happy!

Our Apprentices Enjoying Team Building

Our apprentices taking part in a team building, an exercise which is aimed at strengthening some of the qualities needed in our apprenticeship program. At Finning, team work is a fundmental quality which we value, it helps us deliver a first class customer experience and create a working environment which is enjoyed amongst all our employees.

Team Building 2 Team Building 2
Our apprentices, whilst getting help from their fellow team mates, also had a test of their own determination and drive, and when we say test, we mean climb a very tall structure and encourage others to follow in their footsteps. It was great to see the apprentices show such drive which will carry them far in the program and will strenghten a key quality needed in becoming an engineer.
