Malcolm Construction, a division of The Malcolm Group, a leader in providing practical solutions, has purchased eleven new Cat® excavators from Finning in a deal signed at this year’s Scotplant event. The new machines will increase the company’s plant hire offering, following on from the successful purchase of Cat 980K and 972K wheel loaders in 2013.

The range of machines from 3t to 14t excavators will help establish Malcolm Construction as a leader in the plant hire industry. Its customers will benefit from premium build quality machinery capable of working across a multitude of applications, including space-restricted job sites.

Andrew Malcolm, CEO of the Malcolm Group, said: “We have a commitment to delivering practical and cost effective solutions to suit our client’s requirements through continuous investment in our fleet. Due to the number of different types of sectors we work in, it’s important to ensure that we have the capability to offer machinery that can cope with the demands of different applications.”

“Caterpillar machinery is renowned for it’s build quality and whilst they’re a sensible investment in their own right, each machine has a strong resale value, which made the excavators even more of an attractive purchase. The new excavators will take pride of place on our plant hire fleet and I’m sure will prove to be very popular with our customers.”

The new Cat excavators will offer its customers a flexible and agile machine that is fuel efficient and economical to run, generating greater productivity and lower operating costs as a result. This will help Malcolm Construction’s customers become more sustainable in their working practice.

Alistair Murdoch, Key Account Manager at Finning, said: “The Malcolm Group is one of the leading providers in logistics, construction and maintenance services throughout the UK, so we are delighted to continue our relationship. Following its purchase of two wheel loaders in 2013, the business saw the value of investing in Cat equipment and approached us to supply them with a fleet of adaptable and robust excavators that would give its customers more flexibility on site.”

“Although Malcolm Construction will look after the service and maintenance of the machines, each has the added benefit of a premium warranty and will be supported by the UK-wide network of Finning branches and engineers.”
